I went to the 2nd years life drawing class and I'm glad I did because we used ink and rolled up card to use like a pen and drew good old Isabelle! I then realized this is what I want for my BGs: a rough, brush stroke kind of style. We then used dip pens which were hard but interesting to use, I may not use a dip pen for my work but I might use a small paint brush to get the brush stroke look for my actually animation. That means using indian ink...

Character designs
I've been practising drawing my characters, as well as designing them...
This pic was done with a black copic pen (brush nib) to see if I could emulate a ink brush look, but I wanted the ink to be more like paint, as in have more of a brush stroke effect.
This was done with watercolours. Along the lines of what I wanted, although I need more practise to get smoother lines. I might also make the characters simpler so it's easier to paint the lines, I still keep painting like I'm sketching!
These are some drawings of my character turnarounds, I'll probably develop these into a more stylistic rendition, so they're easier to paint. I also need to draw out the lion and bird, and wolf!
I've done some basic sketches of the girl, although I'm still not happy with the outsome so I'm working on her.
Hopefully I'll be moving onto painting some BGs, when I get hold of my watercolours!

About...
I suppose I should describe what my film is about.
Well basically it's based on Japanese folklore and a creature called the Tanuki. The Tanuki is some sort of raccoon/badger animal that can shapeshift, and is quite mischievous.
The story goes: A Tanuki is cursed for being mischievous to never have a true form. Because of this, it walks the earth trying to find a place it can call a home. One day it finds a girl playing with her mother and the Tanuki decides it wants that girl's life. It changes into a rabbit and leads the girl deep into a forest and leaves her. It then changes into the form of the girl and goes home with her mother.
That's all I'm saying for now!
